Although I am primarily a card maker, I always design a keepsake album for my card making cruises.  A definite highlight that we fill with photos and journaling so we never forget!

I will admit, I'm not a huge scrapbooker in the traditional sense, but I really love making themed keepsake albums.  I have a large basket I tuck them all into and I can spend hours looking through them all.

I always do a themed album for my cruises.  You'll give away cards, but you get to keep your album!  It's a great place to keep your favorite travel pics and journal your great memories!

This time, I went full-out on the cruise theme!  From this nautical paper line, great charms (as usual!), fun sentiments and lots of room for pics and journaling and a nice sturdy shaped 12 page album that measures 8" x 6 1/2" x 1 3/4" thick, approx.

I have a very limited stock on this album.  As well, each album is customizable.  Just tell me your port of calls and I'll create those for your album. 

This kit is mail order only and will not be taught in class.  All my kits come with a thorough photo instructional slideshow taking you step by step through each project.

Besides basic supplies, you'll need a blue glitter glue (Recommended: Cool Mint & Gold Stickles by Ranger).

Alright!  I did it...  here is the first of five classes from my 2013 Alaskan Creative Cruise. 

I always do one keepsake album on a cruise.  It can be used for a trip, but what I love about this theme is how beautifully it works for life's journey and we're all on one of those!

This stunning album features a stand-up easel chipboard album (8x8), paper and metal charms from Graphic 45.  As well as unique metal charms on every page, beautiful sentiments, pockets for keepsakes and lots of room for photos and journaling.

Supplies needed

Adhesive:  Good strong adhesive for pages.  Foam squares, large and mini glue dots.  Liquid glue or Dotto for delicate die-cuts.

Tools: Scissors, hole punches (1/8" and micro).  Ink blending tool.  Trimmer.  2" hole punch.  Mini Spritzer.

Distressing supplies:  Distress Stain; Tarnished Brass.  Alcohol Inks: Gold and Pewter.  These are optional, you can use the metal butterflies as is. 

Glimmer Distress Spray...you'll need: Pumice Stone Distress ink pad and re-inker. (you can use your favorite ink as well). Perfect pearls: Gold and Heirloom Gold.

Q's Creative Cruise Album

I'm feeling bad about not posting anything new on my blog lately...so I thought I'd share with you exactly why I've been so absent.

My Creative Cruise is in less than 2 weeks and it's just a hive of creative activity here in the studio (yup, that is what I choose to call my basement office).

Here's a little sneak peek of just one of the many classes I'll be teaching on board the ship.

Most of my cruise classes will be card classes, but we have to have an album to commemorate the trip and a place to store and record our photographic memories.

I love this album.  It's chunky and bright and colorful.  Kind of want to eat it, but that might be because I've only had a banana to eat and it's 3pm.

There are a ton of detailed cricut cuts, digital labels, tags, pockets and lots of room for photos and journaling.

I'll be showing all the page details after the cruise.  There must be some element of surprise for my gals!

This particular version is exclusive for cruise participants, but I will have a generic version just perfect for you own cruise and I will also have a summertime version that I'll be releasing as a buy-only kit later this spring.

Pink supplies winner, a free download and a few thoughts

Despite a busy week, I found some time Friday night to check my emails and was very much taken off guard by all the touching responses I've had to my Cancer Journey Album post.

I was brought to tears by the outpouring of love and concern we all have for our sisters, mothers, friends and sadly, even children who have had cancer. Some have survived and some have not.

I pray that one day there will be a cure.  Until then, let's continue to uplift and give courage to those around us.  I think making an album similar to mine would make such a meaningful gift. 

And since only one person can win my pink supplies, I thought I might be able to help you by creating a free digital version of the "what cancer cannot do" poem.  I hope you like it.  there are several versions, some without the butterflies and flowers, some in pink, some in black instead of brown.  You can download them here.

"What Cancer Cannot do" JOURNEY album

Paper crafting, for the most part is a light-hearted hobby; Birthdays, Thank yous, holidays etc...  It can, however, play a more heartfelt role in the lives of our family & friends.

I got an email from a student this week asking if I knew of any inspirational quotes or poems for people who have cancer.  The first thing that came to my mind was a project I did for Paper Crafts Magazine many years ago.

The whole project was based around a rubber stamp with a poem/quote on what Cancer cannot do.  At the time I had a good friend who had just been diagnosed for the second time with Ovarian cancer and I was very tuned into how this sentiment might help.
 

Journaling can be a significant part in dealing with any of life's challenges, and cancer is no exception.  Creating a place to record your journey, treasuring the people who are helping you, remembering your day-to-day challenges while finding peace and hope can be very cathartic.

Maybe you know someone who could use a memento like this?  Maybe you need some pink supplies to create it?  I gathered a collection of pink paper crafting supplies (including ink, pins, brads, rub-ons, ribbon, stickers and brads) and would love to give them away to someone in need.
