Nifty Thrifty Christmas Cards Class

Sorry this kit is sold out.
________________________
I thought today would be a perfect time to release my newest class, Nifty Thrifty Christmas Cards...

Many of you already know that the genesis of many of my classes are my personal needs. (So selfish!)

Every year I struggle with the long list of to-dos for Christmas and the one thing that rarely gets done is Christmas cards. I almost made it last year, but due to a printing issue (they were photo cards), I ended up sending a digital card instead (is that
tacky?).

This year, my challenge to me and YOU is to make all my own Christmas cards and send them out the weekend after Thanksgiving. What do you think? Are you up for this challenge? Will you join me?

To make it easy for you and me, I've centered my class around a set of digital images I created for WCMD a few years ago, cal
led Heaven & Nature. I specifically designed these cards to be thrifty, quick and cute (of course!).

I'll be offering you all sorts of time-saving and mass-producing tips in class and for added value, the class will include all the digital images so you can make more at home.

I'm also offering (because several of you have asked!) individual cards (you pick!) in kit form in multiples of six. This could really make getting your Christmas cards done early a real possibility. Everything will be printe
d and pre-cut, you'll get these put together is record time!

Class Schedule is:
Wed. Nov. 4th 10-noon South Jordan
Wed. Nov. 4th 6-8pm Orem
Thurs. Nov. 5th 6-8pm American Fork
Fri. Nov. 6th 10-noon Centerville
Fri. Nov. 6th 2-4pm Clinton
Fri. Nov. 6th 6-8pm Clinton

Tues. Nov. 10th 10-noon Sandy
Tues. Nov. 10th 6-8pm Provo
Wed. Nov. 11th 6-8pm West Jordan

Supplies to bring to class:
Trimmer and scissors (fine tipped & long)
Adhesive (Variety: Roll tape, pop-up squares, mini glue dots, dotto, etc...)
Bone Folder, Exacto Knife & self-healing mat
Pencil, ruler & Push pin
1/4" hole punch, micro hole punch and corner rounder
Crystal Glitter glue (Ice stickles) and loose crystal glitter
Glossy Accents or Diamond Glaze
1" and 1 1/2" circle punches (will have some in class)

I'm just dying to know if I'm the only one who struggles with Christmas cards...so leave me a comment and I'll pick a few winners. The prize? My Envelopement class kit ($19 value!).

And that concludes my WCMD activities...it's been a fun day for me and I hope you got to celebrate, even it just meant visiting my blog. Lots of opportunities to win as well, so make sure to read the last four posts!

And now that you've paper crafted your little heart out, it's time for some nourishment. Come back tomorrow for another little treat...one that you can eat!

Nighty Night

Deck the Halls...

A few more cards for you...

As this day has progressed, I didn't factor in the sun going down and me losing all my beautiful light for photography, so please excuse the glare from the flash.

I purposely kept this card very simple, letting the snow globe be the focal point. Shake it up!

Using the foil stickers was a little more challenging and again, the flash took away some of the beautiful detail. I needed a good contrast, so used a cream colored cardstock, lightly inked to background the stickers.

I also lightly sanded then to create a little more contrast...and what we do without stickles. I mean, really? Love them! Want to share them!

2 lucky followers who comment will get one of the cards and a new bottle of stickles!

Believe in the Magic of Christmas

Okay ladies...my first card (and more to come)... Who can I send this card too? Any ideas? Post yours as a comment...

Here's a little more detail of this scrumptious sticker...it's a mini card!

Santa came early...

Did you know...World Card Making Day was originally (and still is!) designed to also launch the holiday season of card & gift making. Really, this is a perfect time! Our gardens are sleeping, the kids are back in school and I'm hoping we all have a little more time on our hands to paper craft.

So, imagine my surprise when I receive ALL this in the mail yesterday, compliments of Santa's little helper, K & Company (thanks Megan!).

No secret I've always been a big fan of K & company and have created countless published paper crafted projects with their amazing line of paper supplies. This new Christmas line, Evergreen by Brenda Walton is no exception.

Beautifully crafted, Dickens-inspired, nostalgic icons topped with frosty glitter, elegant typography, glistening foil, die-cut designs and so much more! Truly, this collection is like opening a box of chocolates, with all the anticipation, but the delicious dilemma of which one do I eat first!

As I was taking pictures this morning, because literally I can't find images anywhere online (that's how NEW this is), I realized I just wasn't doing justice to the product. So I took a couple of close-ups of my favorites.

These are the Snow Globe Stickers. Yes, little squishy, dimensional snow globes. Adorable! I can't stop shaking them!

These Foil embossed stickers are like antiqued copper and just amazing. Can't wait to use them. In fact, that's just what I'm going to do! Stay tuned for a few cards made with some of my new supplies.

How about you? Would you like to get your hands on some of this? Well, I want to share! At first I was just going to have one winner, but decided it would be more fun to divide everything into smaller parcels, so several people can get a sampling of all this Christmas goodness.

Just leave a comment (of course!), tell me how you're celebrating WCMD today, I'll pick a winner tomorrow night!

As a side note...WHO is going to be my 70th follower? Can't wait to find out :)

and it all began...

Let me start the day by introducing the person who started World Card Making Day: Jennafer Martin was the Managing Editor of Paper Crafts Magazine at the time and I don't think even she knew what she had started...here we are 4 years later with hobbyists, magazines, stores and manufacturers all over the world jumping on board to celebrate and promote card making.

Jennafer is now the Editor-in-Chief of Creating Keepsakes, so she isn't too far away in scrapbooking land, which you know is really only a hop, skip and a jump from card making (more on that later).

I have a special place in my heart for Jennafer, as she was really my first mentor in the magazine business. She is incredibly encouraging, supportive, energetic, creative, funny, hard working and a good friend. I know you most likely won't meet her in person, but the next best thing is reading this introduction blog at Creating Keepsakes. It's pretty funny.

More coming...go through a load of laundry in and come on back!

Happy World Card Making Day!

I had BIG plans for this day...including building up to it the week before. Something got in the way with those plans. The flu. I'm better, but of course, you all know what it's like to catch up after being sick for a week.

Don't give up on me! I'm here. I've got some really GREAT things to share with you today...all day, so stay tuned and check back every so often.

First of all...Happy Card making Day! I hope you have plans to create something today. Even if it's just designing one card...or taking advantage of all the great WCMD sales, or just dreaming about cards, I hope you'll help me celebrate this day set aside specifically for US, card makers extraordinaire!

World Card Making Day...4 weeks and counting

In 2006 Paper Crafts Magazine created a special day just for card making; it was called National Card Making Day...but based on the response we got and the world-wide popularity of card making, we changed it to World Card Making day.

Today, in our fourth year, World Card Making Day is celebrated by hobbyists, retailers and manufacturers "to unite and celebrate the connection and creativity that is the heart of card making".

World Card Making Day is always celebrated on the first Saturday in October, for this year, that means Saturday, October 3rd!

For several ideas on how YOU can participate, please read here.

I have some fun things planned for that day here on my blog, so please save-the-date and check my blog that day for free downloads, card ideas and contests.
