Q's Creative Cards: Perfect Chemistry Inside & Out!

Sorry, this kit is sold out.

I had so much fun designing this class!  Since I started designing my own die-cuts, the sky's the limit!  It all started with a chemistry vial and ended with a typewriter; and they all speak the language of Love!

As some of you know, I love a multi-purpose card!

'Perfect Chemistry' card class, of course, has two Valentine cards, but they could also make a nice anniversary or wedding card, or a platonic card for a loved one.

I've also included the always-needed birthday cards and a thank you/friendship card as well.  They are all unified by gold foil hearts & arrows, lace, charms and of course, thoughtful sentiments that make a card really special.  You'll be creating a fun Pop-up card with a super easy to follow (score & cut) template and crazy-cool aperture camera card with a secret insert.

As always, you'll get a step-by-step slideshow to walk you through each card.
If you want me to ship the kit to you, please add shipping from the drop-down menu below.  Otherwise, I'll bring it to you in class!

If you have any questions, please let me know.

Q's Creative Cards: Very Valentine Cards & Tags

Sorry, this kit is sold out.

The older I get, the more I enjoy Valentine's Day.

As a card maker, I'm always looking for opportunities to spoil the people I care about.  It'll be almost 2 months since Christmas with nothing but cold and hibernation on the docket.

Valentine's is a chance to get creative, share some love and eat some chocolate.

I've got two of these covered in my new class, Very Valentine.  Yup, that's right, I'm fulling embracing the holidays, right down to a cupid!  Four cards and two tags (cellophane bag and excelsior included, but sorry, no chocolate!)

More Valentine's from the Archive

Here's a segment I did for Studio 5 in 2011.  It's been fun to see how 'pinned' some of these projects got on Pinterest.
______________________________________________________________

It's back to the hardware store and more Man Cards, but this time for Valentine's Day. If you missed my first segment from June 2010, you can watch and read it all here.

You're the Best Catch Gift & Tag

Here's a sweet treat for the fisherman! And even if he doesn't fish he'll love the sentiment and the goodies.

Print out tag & jar topper. Mat with cardstock. Adhere jar topped to jar top. Attach tag to jar with wire, Mirror Hanger and brad.
Attach fly hook and bobber to jar.

To create the mesh jar wrap, fold Aluminum tape over edges of Vent screening.  Wrap and adhere around Jar (I got this one at Target).

Unchain my Heart Card
Here's a great mechanic or biker card. I love using Galvanized Step Flashing. It's like a ready made, free standing card for men. It's study enough to handle tools and in this case, the chain.

Cut a foot of chainlink at the hardware store.

Print out sentiment and heart. Trim heart and mat with white cardstock. Attach to one end of chain with wire.

Mat sentiment with Red cardstock and adhere to Right hand side of metal card.

 Galvanized Step Flashing

Be Mine Valentine XOXO Card
Here's another card using Step Flashing. This time it's laid on it's side.

Print out sentiment on white cardstock. Trim and mat on red cardstock.

Arrange nails (1 1/2") and Flat Washers (3/4") on card and mark holes with pencils. Remove nails and washers and use a ruler to make sure the holes line up.

Tap a nail in each mark with hammer to create hole. Adhere nails and washer to front of card with mini glue dots then thread thin wire through holes to secure nails and washers.

Love Beyond Measure Gift & Tags
Every man needs an extra tape measure. Here's a handy key-chain sized tape just perfect to attach a little card and tags to.

Just print, mat and thread onto the key ring.

Grip on my Heart gift and Card
Attaching little tools to a card is pretty floppy unless you use a tie-plate.

These come with handy holes to attach items, like this small wrench.

Punch 3 small hearts and layer them together with small foam squares. Cut 2 small parts of a pop-up glue dot and place on either side of heart. Place in center of wrench opening. Print sentiment, mat with blue and adhere to tie-place. Attach wrench with some wire or elastic.

Main Squeeze gift tag card
Here's a colorful and funny way to express your affection! Use a large tiling spong and 'squeeze' it in the middle with a masculine tie.

Print Sentiment and tag. Mat Tag with orange carrstock and attach a brad to make it easy to pull out.

I die-cut this ticket from the Cricut and Fabulous Finds cartridge, but you can easily create one with a trimmer and a 1" hole punch. Create pocket by adhering two pieces together on the sides and bottom.

Handy & Handsome Card
This is one my husband's favorite quotes...whenever he says it I always say "lucky me, I got both".

I used another tie-plate here to I could thread some wire through the holes to secure the screwdriver (actually it's a 7-in-1 tool). You could also come up with some funny sentiment about 'multi-tasking' for this same tool.

Next time you're in the hardware store, spend some time and meander the aisles, you'll be surprised by how many great treasures there are for man-projects. All my finds are generally very inexpensive and make unique gifts and cards for your 'man' that you just can't buy at Hallmark.

Have fun!

Don’t forget! You can download either the PDF for ready to print format or the Jpeg to create most of these projects quickly and easily.

Q's Creative Classes: Sweet Treats!

Sorry, this kit is sold out.
____________________
It's all pink & pretty for February!

Something sweet always makes a holiday easier and more fun to share.  So, each of the 7 projects can or will contain a sweet treat!

Both gift bags and the cookie sleeve have a waxy surface inside to protect your project from baked goods ( I love that!).  I'll be bringing cookies too!

The pillow box is a sturdy and roomy frosty container, perfect for a treat and maybe something extra?

The Truffle pouch contains a Lindor Truffle ball, yes, it comes with the class!  The pixie stick sleeve also comes with the pixie sticks (my favorite childhood treat and I still love them!), but you could easily slip something else in there as well.  Lastly, an adorable tiny 3D paper kiss with a hidden Hershey's kiss inside (included).

What to bring:

Adhesives: roll dispenser type adhesive as well as mini & craft glue dots, foam squares, dotto (or glue pen for delicate die-cuts).  Also, Wafer thin Velcro fasteners (to close bags).  I buy mine in the sewing dept at Walmart.  I get the oval kind, but any shape is fine, as long as they are thin.

Scissors (long and fine-tipped)

Tools: Corner Rounder Punch and a Paper Crimper (I will have mine in class)
Hole Punches: micro and 1/8"
Misc: Fine Grit sanding block

Email me if you have any questions.

60% off and 100% perfect

I was in the Sandy Roberts a few weeks ago and my friend, Paula, who is always so on top of things and just a big awesome help, pointed out some adorable valentine paper by Making Memories, that was 60% off.

I have a hard time resisting just about anything that is 60% off. But I stood there, paper in hand, turning it this way and that and basically designing a card in my head.

"Valentine's is over, but this would work for a Wedding card...Those hearts would be really easy to cut out and have so much pretty detail."

I did the math. "21 hearts from each sheet of paper. 10 cards for .32 cents...plus the other paper, cardstock etc..., still really, less than .50 a card. Not including the envelope. Darn! Those square envelopes are so expensive!"

Yes, I really had all those thoughts as I stood in front of the paper turnstile, looking rather zombie-like.

I love it when I have an idea, go home and actually do it. Right away. Card club is always a great excuse to get cracking with cards. I took the hearts to bed. Made a big paper mess and finished everything up the next morning. Cutting it close, but I made it.

Since I bought more than 1 sheet of hearts, guess what? I made extra cards and I would love to share a few of them with you. Tell me about the best deal you got in a scrapbooking store and I'll send cards off to the winners. Be sure to check back and email me with your mailing address. I'll be posting the winners on Wednesday night. Good luck!

Happy Valentine's from someone who loves you

Chocolate, flowers, kisses, hugs, shrimp, cookies, chocolate, and more chocolate. Is it possible to overdose on chocolate? Not sure but I'm working on finding out. :)

Maybe you've had none of those things. that's ok, really.

Instead, let me share these sublime little valentine's with you. Lovingly made by someone who cares about us more deeply and more perfectly than anyone can.

Happy Valentine's.

Now pass it along...

Valentine Winner!

I normally do a random number generator to keep it picking a winner fair, but I simply could not resist sending Alice these goodies...Congratulations & Enjoy!

Your blog pix and ideas are beautiful. This may sound sad, but this year, my only "valentine" is my love of paper crafting. Maybe things will change in the future, but whatever happens, I'll always love creating, so you're give away would really be an awesome addition to my supplies. Thanks for the chance to win!! Alice

I can't count, but I still love you

I thought it was appropriate on this Valentine's day, to share this card/keepsake I made for my husband (and the magazine, of course!) several years ago.

What cracks me up is I only had 4 reasons! Maybe the last one is a secret? Or maybe it just changes from year to year. Yeahhhhh...that's it!

What you can't really see on this project is that the "adore" piece actually slips off (it keeps the pretty thick card closed) and reveals the exact same image underneath.

Isn't that picture of Steve with Emma & Ethan hillarious? And even though this was years ago (13 or 14 years ago) nothing much has changed. Emma, at 17, is still screaming and Ethan is just oblivious to it all (NOT sucking his thumb though!) I'm trying to be funny here... really, Emma is a sweet, fun teenager (yippee, I have someone to see chick flicks with now!) and Ethan is a serious art student at BYU.

Here's hoping you have someone to love today (romantic, familial or platonic...it's all good!). But what I can promise you, is that someone loves you.

sweetie-valentinie & give-away

I'm a bit fond of rambling. It makes me laugh... and so did this 'rambling' valentine sentiment by River City Rubber Stamps, one my favorite 'funky & fun' rubber stamp companies.

I could just get lost in all their quirky sayings and sentiments. I've had this one for awhile and wanted to create a little bookmark card with it and finally did...

with the help of Making Memories gorgeous Love Notes collection.

Unfortunately, or fortunately, I really don't have anyone to give this too, as I have a sweetie-valentinie named Steve. So, I'd love to pass this along to someone and add a few of the Making Memories goodies and maybe something sweet.

Just leave a comment and I'll do a draw next week. Happy Valentine's!

Studio 5 'Spread the Love' Video

Oh wow, I knew the odds were good I'd forgot something after only 3 1/2 hours sleep last night, but I did NOT think it would one my favorite quotes, "Never supress a generous thought." by Camilla Kimball. Seriously, it's only FIVE words!
