I
don't transform my house with every holiday (except Christmas of course!), but
I do like to have a few tokens in key areas of my house (foyer or tablescape).
Even
better is when one holiday is over, I can just flip it over for the next
one. In this case, St. Patrick's
Day...then on March 18, I flip it to those pretty spring colors for Easter.
I've
used a 12" canvas block, but anything will work; wood, cardboard, core
board.
I
used paper by My Mind's Eye (list below), but you could use any coordinating
paper.
Templates
and printables make this a quick & easy project! You can download them here.
**I
realized after designing the Easter plaque that it would make a cute card, so
I've included those templates as well.
Irish Blessing Plaque
Instructions:
**I
distressed all edges with Distress Ink Pad (Frayed Burlap)
·
Cut
a 12" square piece of pattern paper to 11 1/2" square. Adhere to canvas.
·
Cut
a 11 1/2" x 5 1/2" piece of coordinating cardstock. Cut a wave edge along top of piece. Adhere to bottom of large piece.
·
Cut
a 11 1/2" x 4 3/4" piece of coordinating cardstock. Cut a wave edge along top of piece. Adhere to bottom of large piece.
·
Cut
a 11 1/2" x 4" piece of coordinating cardstock. Cut a wave edge along top of piece. Adhere to bottom of large piece.
Print out "Irish Blessing" sentiment/template on a light patterned paper (or light cardstock).
·
Print
out "Irish Blessing house" and cut to create template. You'll need to add 4" to bottom of house
as the entire house didn't fit on a 8 1/2" x 11" sheet of paper.
·
Center
house template on printed sentiment, mark with pencil and trim.
·
Cut
2 strips of dark 'wood' paper for the roof.
Miter top by laying both pieces along roof edge, overlapping at the
top. Hold in place in your hand and cut
from bottom of angle to top of angle.
Adhere in place on house.
·
Foam
square house to bottom center of canvas.
·
cut
out a green shamrock.
·
cut
out one heart/leaf from #1 and 3 heart/leaf from #2.
·
Layer
and adhere each leaf on base shamrock.
Adhere to center of house.
·
Cut
a sliver of brown cardstock for the stem.
Adhere to bottom of shamrock.
·
Print
out Irish Blessing Banner on Natural cardstock, trim and adhere to top of
shamrock. Use Glue Dot to adhere one
small button to bottom of shamrock.
·
Use
glue dots to adhere a variety of buttons to top edge of 'hills'.
Print out "Easter is Hope" sentiment/template on Natural cardstock. Trim.

you could use that instead. Layer them
in the basket, alternating some with flat adhesive and some with foam
square. Adhere two eggs to bottom
right-hand corner of basket.
·
Adhere
a piece of jute along outside edge of sentiment. If your jute is too thin, braid it.
·
Punch
out a variety of sized flowers from coordinating cardstock. Use buttons, brads and/or beads for the
centers of the flowers. Adhere to plaque
with mini glue dots.
